Despite plenty of cameos in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, an Avengers-style Super Smash Bros. film isn't likely right now
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri have stated that a Super Smash Bros. film is unlikely in the near future, despite cameos in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. They are currently focused on individual film projects rather than building a shared cinematic universe like Marvel's Avengers. Cameos and character introductions are being considered on a case-by-case basis for fun within scenes.
