Gears of War: E-Day Happened Because Starting Over Sounded More Fun Than Gears 6
The Coalition has revealed that Gears of War: E-Day was chosen over a direct sequel to Gears 5 because the development team felt more passionate about telling the Emergence Day story. Studio creative director Matt Searcy stated that the opportunity to build the game, characters, and Locust from scratch using Unreal Engine 5 was too good to pass up. Gears of War: E-Day is set to launch for PC and Xbox Series X|S on October 3, with a beta planned for August.
