LG Drops the Metal Mask: FLiPP Promises Brighter, Longer-Lasting OLED at Any Size
LG has unveiled a new OLED manufacturing technique called FLiPP (FMM-less Innovative Pixel Patterning), which eliminates the need for metal masks. This new process promises 1.6 times the brightness and 2.4 times the lifespan of current OLED panels, with a 13 percent reduction in power consumption. LG plans to implement FLiPP in tablets and monitors first, with potential applications ranging from 1-inch wearable devices to ultra-large televisions.
