Metal Gear Solid's Snake actor didn't want to sound like the character Hideo Kojima took so much inspiration from it reportedly nearly got him sued

David Hayter, the original voice actor for Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid, revealed he intentionally avoided sounding like Kurt Russell's character Snake Plissken from Escape from New York. Hayter aimed for a more weathered voice for Snake, reflecting the character's experiences. Hideo Kojima was heavily inspired by Plissken, even creating a character named Iroquois Pliskin in Metal Gear Solid 2. There were even discussions about legal action over the similarities, though director John Carpenter advised against it.
