Nintendo and Illumination almost gave Yoshi his own movie
Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that a standalone Yoshi movie set in New York City was considered during the production of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Ultimately, the idea was shelved in favor of the current film's storyline, though Yoshi eggs were included as a hint for future installments. Miyamoto also confirmed Yoshi's prominent role in the upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
