Director Steven Spielberg revealed that he wrote the initial 50-60 page story for his upcoming alien film, Disclosure Day, on his iPad over two months in the summer of 2023. The screenplay was later penned by long-time collaborator David Koepp, who previously worked with Spielberg on films like Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds. Disclosure Day is described as being in a similar vein to Spielberg's earlier works like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
