Filming has begun in New Zealand for A Minecraft Movie 2, with a release date set for July 23, 2027. Jack Black, reprising his role as Steve, shared a painting of himself as the character by artist Kristoffer Zetterstrand, who also created 40 in-game paintings for Minecraft. Returning cast members Jason Momoa, Jared Hess, and Jennifer Coolidge are joined by new addition Kirsten Dunst as Alex.
