Toma Kimura, director of the upcoming The Ghost in the Shell anime remake by Science Saru, confirmed that no generative AI was used in its production. This statement was met with applause at the Annecy International Animation Festival, contrasting with other studios like Wit Studio, which admitted to using AI for backgrounds in 'Ascendance of a Bookworm'. The series, based on Masamune Shirow's manga, will premiere on Prime Video on July 7.
