A remake of the 1988 film Bloodsport, which inspired Mortal Kombat's iconic testicular destruction move, is in development with A24 Films. Michaela Coel is set to write and direct the new version. Jean-Claude Van Damme, star of the original, recently appeared as a skin for Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 1.
