The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Was Never Framed As A Sequel
Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri and Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto clarified that the upcoming "Super Mario Galaxy" movie is not a sequel to "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" but rather its own distinct story. While "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" focused on the Mushroom Kingdom, the "Super Mario Galaxy" film aims to expand the narrative to space, drawing inspiration from the dramatic elements and music of the Super Mario Galaxy game. The "Super Mario Galaxy" movie is set to release on April 1, with Nintendo also partnering with Sony for a live-action "The Legend of Zelda" movie in 2027.
