Director Zack Snyder is set to write and direct a remake of John Carpenter's 1981 sci-fi action film Escape from New York. The original film, starring Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken, inspired the Metal Gear video game series. This remake was previously in development with other directors attached before Snyder took over.
