Social VR platform Rec Room will permanently shut down on June 1st, 2026, after 10 years of operation. Despite reaching 150 million players, the developers at Against Gravity cited that the platform was never sustainably profitable. New account creations and subscriptions are no longer available, and creators will stop earning tokens after May 18th.

The social game Rec Room will be delisted from the PlayStation Store on June 1, 2026, and will become unplayable as its servers are shut down. Developer Against Gravity cited a lack of profitability and challenges in the VR market as reasons for the decision. The game, which debuted on PSVR in 2017 and later became available on PS5 and PS4, has reached over 150 million players.
