Developer Hinterland has announced new DLC for its 9-year-old survival game, The Long Dark, as a small team shifts focus from the sequel, Blackfrost, to ensure the studio's survival amidst an uncertain industry. While Blackfrost is still in development with a delayed early access launch, new content and regions for The Long Dark's survival mode are planned over the next two years.

Hinterland has announced the completion of the multi-year Wintermute storyline for their survival game, The Long Dark, with the release of Episode Five: The Light at the End of All Things. Despite concluding this narrative arc, the developer stated that this does not signify the end of meaningful development for the game, with future plans for The Long Dark and other unannounced projects. Episode Five is available now on PC and consoles, with a Nintendo Switch release expected by the end of April.
