Austin and Kyoto Have Already Activated — Polygon Labs Says Stale PoS Nodes Must Upgrade Immediately
Polygon Labs has issued an urgent advisory stating that nodes running outdated Polygon Proof-of-Stake (PoS) binaries for Bor or Heimdall have already been deactivated from the canonical chain. The hardforks, named Austin and Kyoto, activated on mainnet at specific block heights, requiring immediate upgrades to avoid further disconnection. Failure to upgrade means nodes must resync after updating to track the accepted network history.
Olderfall’s Immutable Hunt puts 100,000 wAURE on the line for the top 500 until Sept. 30
Olderfall has launched the Immutable Hunt, a leaderboard event offering 100,000 wAURE to the top 500 players, with the winner receiving 3,500 wAURE. The contest, which runs until September 30, awards points for acquiring and burning weapons, winning deathmatches, and contributing guild points. This event is part of the "Gaming on Polygon" hub created by Immutable and Polygon Labs.
BOE Phase 2 trial puts stablecoins and the digital pound inside one trade finance payment
The Bank of England's Phase 2 digital pound exploration is testing the interoperability of stablecoins and central bank digital currency within a single trade finance payment. This sandbox experiment, involving NOBO Finance, Dun & Bradstreet, and Polygon Labs, aims to see if these different forms of digital money can coexist for transactions without using real customers or money. The findings will inform the joint assessment of the digital pound later this year.

MetaKing Studios has announced the closure of its medieval strategy MMO BLOCKLORDS, rebranding the studio as BLOCKLORE. The company is shifting its focus to an AI generation tool, described as a node-based canvas for concept art, character consistency, video, and editing. The game, which launched on Steam in March 2026 after over seven years of development and a $15 million raise, had a "Mostly Negative" rating.
For the first time in years, there are no blockchain gaming talks at GDC
Blockchain gaming and NFT-related talks have significantly decreased at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) for the first time in years. Unlike previous years which featured multiple sessions on building blockchain games and optimizing them for emerging futures, the current GDC schedule shows no such dedicated sessions.
