D7VK version 1.7 brings even more retro Direct3D gaming to Linux
D7VK version 1.7, a Vulkan-based translation layer for running older Direct3D games on Linux via Wine/Proton, has been released. This update improves rendering for legacy Direct3D versions 3, 5, 6, and earlier, enhancing compatibility for titles like O.R.B: Off-World Resource Base, Requiem: Avenging Angel, and Warhammer: Dark Omen. Further work is planned for fixed function lighting and other legacy features.

The D7VK project has released version 1.5, adding support for Direct3D 3 via Vulkan on Linux, bringing the total supported Direct3D versions to 3, 5, 6, and 7 for use with Wine and Proton. This update includes significant improvements and fixes for various games, such as implementing execute buffers and back buffer/depth write backs, which resolve issues in titles like Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and SimCity 4.
