Linux Mint confirm longer release cycles, the next release is planned for Christmas 2026
The Linux Mint team has announced a shift to longer development cycles, with the next release, Mint 23 "Alfa", planned for Christmas 2026. This new strategy aims to improve project health and allow for more thorough development without rushing decisions. The upcoming release will be based on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and feature Linux kernel 7.0 and Cinnamon 6.7, utilizing a new live-installer ported from LMDE.
