This photorealistic FPS runs in browser thanks to 'Gaussian Splatting', which is now my new favorite thing
A photorealistic first-person shooter has been developed using Gaussian Splatting technology, allowing it to run in a browser without requiring a high-end GPU. This technique, developed by Iakov Sumygin at Snap Inc using the PlayCanvas engine, creates realistic environments by combining multiple images and camera data. While currently a proof of concept lacking physical interaction, it demonstrates a more accessible approach to achieving high-fidelity graphics in game development.
