Director Damian McCarthy's new horror film Hokum, set in a haunted hotel, aims to be distinct from The Shining by incorporating comedic elements alongside scares. The film stars Adam Scott as a horror novelist who visits rural Ireland and encounters peculiar locals and an ancient witch. Hokum, which follows McCarthy's previous films Caveat and Oddity, is set to release on May 1.
