The animated film cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood will be released in North American theaters on September 4, distributed by GKIDS. The film, animated by Sasayuri and commissioned by NHK, is based on Machiko Kyo's wartime manga and focuses on the Himeyuri students. It will be available in both subtitled and dubbed versions, with the English dub cast to be revealed later this summer.
