Phil Spencer is leaving Microsoft as Xbox chief as new head draws future strategy
Phil Spencer is retiring as Executive Vice President and CEO of Microsoft Gaming, with Asha Sharma taking over leadership of the Xbox division. Spencer, who joined Microsoft in 1988, was instrumental in launching Xbox Game Pass and advocating for cross-platform play. Sharma, previously focused on AI projects, will lead the company's gaming future alongside veteran Matt Botty.
