Mortal Kombat 2's original death scene for Liu Kang was a lot more violent, but "the audience hated it"
Actor Ludi Lin revealed that an earlier script for Mortal Kombat 2 featured a much more brutal death scene for Liu Kang, which was even filmed but ultimately rejected by test audiences. The proposed ending involved Liu Kang being smashed, impaled, and having his spine snapped, but audiences felt the character deserved a better fate.
