Magic: The Gathering’s Multiverse Is Gearing Up For Its Next Big Story In 2027
Magic: The Gathering has revealed its three in-universe set releases for 2027: Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, Kamigawa: Titanbreach, and Zhalfir. Nauctis will introduce an entirely underwater world, Titanbreach will feature kaiju battles between Kamigawa's mechs and Ikoria's monsters, and Zhalfir will explore the game's first Afrofantasy setting. These sets mark the beginning of a new story arc following the conclusion of a previous three-year narrative.

Wizards of the Coast has announced three new Magic: The Gathering sets for 2027: Nauctis The Sunken Realm, Kamigawa Titanbreach, and Zhalfir. Kamigawa Titanbreach will feature mechs battling monsters in a Pacific Rim-inspired setting, while Zhalfir will explore Afrofantasy lore. The company also teased three unnamed Universes Beyond products for release in the same year.
Magic The Gathering – Zhalfir Worldbuilding Trailer
A new trailer showcases the worldbuilding for Zhalfir, a plane re-entering the Magic: The Gathering Multiverse. The plane will feature vibrant magic, a rich history, and the return of the character Teferi Akosa. Zhalfir is set to release on October 1, 2027, and will introduce new cards with a unique afrofantasy visual design.
