Nintendo confirms plans to continue selling Switch 1 outside of Europe
Nintendo has confirmed that the original Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch – OLED Model will continue to be sold in regions outside of Europe. While sales will cease in Europe in early 2027 due to potential battery regulation issues, manufacturing will continue through 2026 for other markets. This decision allows Nintendo to avoid updating the original Switch for new European battery standards.
Nintendo Switch 2 Production Reportedly Slashed After Weak Holiday Sales
Nintendo is reportedly reducing production of the Nintendo Switch 2, planning to manufacture four million units this quarter, a 33% decrease from the initial six million. This decision follows weaker-than-expected holiday sales, despite the console outselling its predecessor in the US. Production cuts may also be related to upcoming European regulations requiring user-replaceable batteries by 2027.
