Wired Productions and Serafini Productions announced that the Japanese psychological horror game BrokenLore: DON'T LIE will launch on September 10, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A demo is available now as part of Steam Next Fest. The game explores themes of isolation, trauma, and fractured memory from the perspective of a hikikomori named Junko.

Legendary Japanese horror author Koji Suzuki, best known for his "Ring" series of books, passed away at the age of 68. His work, including the antagonist Sadako, significantly influenced the global popularity of Japanese horror and was adapted into multiple films and even the video game "Dead by Daylight". Suzuki's short story "Floating Water" was also adapted into the film "Dark Water".

Arrow Films is releasing a limited edition 4K Blu-ray of the 1999 Japanese horror film Audition, directed by Takashi Miike. The release, available for preorder, includes a 4K restoration, new audio options, an introduction and interview with Miike, and a collector's booklet. It also features new interviews with actors Ryo Ishibashi and Eihi Shiina.
