OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has apologized for not reporting a banned ChatGPT account belonging to a suspect in a deadly shooting to the police. The account was flagged in June for violating usage policies related to potential real-world violence. Altman stated that OpenAI will work with governments to prevent future tragedies and has committed to notifying authorities of imminent and credible threats found in ChatGPT conversations.
