What is a softbox?

A softbox is a photography lighting tool that diffuses light to create a soft, even glow, contrasting with the intense focus of a ring light. While often used by professionals, softboxes are becoming more popular for general use due to their affordability and effectiveness in softening edges, reducing blemishes, and lowering contrast in images.
