Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that Diablo 5 will explore how Diablo conquered Sanctuary, rather than glossing over the event. Senior game director Joe Shely stated that players will learn about these events in-game, and narrative director Jennifer Hepler teased that the player's bond with Diablo will be a significant part of the story.
