Dave Bautista has been cast as Kratos in Amazon's upcoming God of War series, replacing Ryan Hurst who had to leave due to injury. The casting news gained attention as a fan pointed out a four-year-old reference in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special where Bautista's character Drax was jokingly called the "God of War."
