Epic Games CEO blames ‘industry-wide challenges’ for 1,000-plus layoffs, multiple Fortnite game modes shutting down
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney announced over 1,000 layoffs, citing industry-wide challenges and a downturn in Fortnite engagement. As a result, multiple Fortnite game modes including Rocket Racing, Ballistic, and Festival Battle Stage will be shut down. Sweeney attributed the cuts to spending significantly more than the company is making.
