Evil Dead Rise director says he turned down a sequel in order to take a "risk" on a new installment in the Mummy franchise: "It's definitely going to surprise people"

Director Lee Cronin chose to forgo directing two sequels for Evil Dead to instead take a risk on a new installment in The Mummy franchise. He stated that making an Evil Dead sequel would have been easy, but he prefers to gamble on new projects that he believes will surprise audiences.
