Final Fantasy 14 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in August – but there's a catch
Final Fantasy XIV will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in August 2026, requiring a separate monthly subscription for Switch players. While the game will be free to download on the platform and won't need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, this new subscription is in addition to existing ones for PC and console players. Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu and Director Naoki Yoshida revealed the news at Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest 2026.
