Former Rockstar technical director Obbe Vermeij stated that the development team regretted the inclusion of stealth mechanics in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, feeling it stretched the team too thin. Vermeij indicated that stealth was not pursued in Grand Theft Auto IV due to this regret, though experiments may have occurred. He also noted that Grand Theft Auto V did incorporate some stealth elements.
