No Man's Sky's latest update, Xeno Arena, introduces creature collecting and battling mechanics inspired by Pokemon. Players can discover, train, breed, and genetically modify a vast array of procedurally generated creatures found across the galaxy. Hello Games boss Sean Murray stated that the update gives gameplay purpose to the game's diverse alien lifeforms, with elemental affinities and unique abilities influencing battles, and includes rankings, leagues, and tournaments.
