Princess Peach's backstory in Super Mario Galaxy Movie is now canon, according to Nintendo
Nintendo creator Shigeru Miyamoto has stated that Princess Peach's backstory revealed in The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be considered canon for future Super Mario Bros. games. Miyamoto explained that while he previously avoided extensive character backstories to maintain creative freedom, the movie's narrative has inspired him to expand on Peach's origins, including her connection to Rosalina and cosmic powers.
