Square Enix veterans "anticipated" their new JRPG would be compared to Zelda, but say Nintendo didn't inspire it – their own 35-year-old series did
Square Enix veterans developing The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales anticipated comparisons to The Legend of Zelda but state their inspiration comes from their own Mana series. Producer Naofumi Matsushita explained that the team aimed to blend real-time action combat with RPG storytelling, similar to the Mana series, while incorporating their signature HD-2D visual style and a time-travel narrative. A demo is available on Steam, with the full release scheduled for June 18.
