"The haters were right," RPG devs decide after spending 3 years on a battle royale only to cancel it and pivot on Steam: "It's not quite an MMO, but it's also more than a co-op game"
Funktronic Labs has canceled its battle royale game, Scramble Knights Royale, after three years of development, admitting that the genre was not viable for an indie studio. The game will pivot to a "Monster Hunter-inspired MMO-lite experience" titled Scramble Knights Online, described as a multiplayer adventure RPG focused on cooperative questing and PvE encounters. An early access release is planned for fall with a $15-$20 price point.
