Delta Force's "biggest update of the year" adds a radioactive map, Terminator-style enemy agents, and a transport chopper
The free-to-play shooter Delta Force is receiving its "biggest update of the year," titled 'Season Meltdown,' on Tuesday, June 30. This update introduces a new map called Coliseum for Havoc Warfare mode, two new weapons, a transport helicopter, and a new operator with freezing abilities. Hazard Operations mode will feature the AZ3 Nuclear Plant location with radiation hazards and a new Terminator-inspired enemy boss, the Neural Device Agent H1000.
Highguard Players Get Refunds As Dev Seemingly Shuts Down For Good
The free-to-play shooter Highguard has ceased operations, with players on PlayStation 5 reporting that Sony is issuing refunds for in-game microtransaction purchases. Developer Wildlight's online presence has vanished, and the company previously laid off most of its staff. Tencent was among the funders who reportedly pulled support after the game's launch, with the game failing to generate sufficient revenue.
Highguard Struggled Because It Is So Sweaty, Dev Says
Wildlight's free-to-play shooter Highguard struggled due to its intense 3v3 gameplay, which required high communication and left little room for casual play, according to senior level designer Alex Graner. The game's complex multi-stage setup and high-skill movement also deterred new players. Despite later additions of 5v5 and looting-free modes, player numbers did not recover, leading to Tencent reportedly pulling funding and Wildlight laying off most of its staff.
