Fear not, samurai masochists, Onimusha: Way of the Sword's flashiness hasn't replaced its challenge
Onimusha: Way of the Sword aims to blend the methodical combat of its predecessors with modern action game sensibilities, featuring a behind-the-back camera and enhanced environmental interactions. The game stars a protagonist modeled after actor Toshiro Mifune, and while it retains challenging Soulslike elements like parrying, it also incorporates more traditional action-adventure mechanics and a story mode difficulty option. The title is set to release on September 4th, with a demo currently available on Steam.
