An artist from some of my favorite Japanese games spent 6 years in a remote mountain village making an old-school D&D RPG, and it's throwing down the gauntlet for Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3
Yoshio Nishimura, a veteran artist from Vanillaware games, is releasing his independently developed RPG, Veritas Tales: Witch of the Dark Castle, on July 9th for PC. The game features hand-drawn illustrations and music by Hitoshi Sakimoto, aiming to capture the spirit of classic tabletop RPGs and fantasy literature. Nishimura spent six years crafting the game, emphasizing its handmade nature and distinct art style.
