Techland has released the 'The Beast's Restored Land' update for Dying Light, which introduces new survival mechanics like hunger and permadeath, effectively creating a separate experience within the game. Lead producer Michał Broda explained that the extensive system rework means it's more than just a new mode, aiming to provide players with a more permanent and impactful way to experience the game world. The update is free for all base-game owners and also includes New Game +, Legend Levels, and Nightmare Mode.
