Former Fallout: New Vegas writer Chris Avellone stated that a remaster of the game is unlikely because Bethesda may not possess the necessary source code or the expertise to reassemble it. He suggested that a potential Fallout 3 remake could serve as a test for the process of remastering older titles. Both Bethesda and Obsidian are now owned by Microsoft, but Avellone believes this doesn't guarantee collaboration on such projects.
